Long An International Port appoints new COO for container capability launch in Q2- 2023

Recently, at the Head Office of Long An International Port at No. 68, Provincial 830 Road, Vinh Hoa Hamlet, Tan Tap Commune, Can Giuoc District, Long An Province, an appointment ceremony was held to announce its new Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Christopher Phillip Ullett. The program was attended by top executives and managers of Dongtam Group and Long An International Port.

Mr. Vo Quoc Huy – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Long An Port JSC (right) and Mr. Peter Hendrik Slootweg – CEO (left) presented the decision and congratulatory flowers to Mr. Christopher Phillip Ullett.

Mr. Christopher Phillip Ullett is from Australia and brings with him more than 20 years of experience in port and terminal operations from all over the globe such as Australia, China, Nigeria, Oman, Peru, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia and Vietnam.  He also previously worked with two international container terminals in Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong from 2008 to 2011. Apart from being a seasoned port and terminal operations expert, he has also managed projects related to the packaging industry in India and the Philippines.

Mr. Ullett joins Long An International Port to further build and professionalize the operations department for the port’s upcoming full-service container business on top of existing services such as logistics, bulk and general cargo, freight forwarding, warehousing and customs brokerage.

“As Chief Operating Officer, Mr Ullett is a key member of the executive management team and has direct influence on the company’s further growth and development, especially in the areas of capacity planning, facilities and services, shaping the structure, size and dynamics of the port. Long An International Port is the flagship project of the mega development plan which aims to be an integral contributor to the growth and development of Long An Province and the Mekong Delta Region. In addition, Mr. Christopher Phillip Ullett together with the experienced Management Board are responsible for planning and training the employees of Long An International Port to develop a dynamic and enthusiastic successor team, who will take on a significant and vital role in advancing the development of Long An International Port in the future” said Peter Slootweg, Chief Executive Officer of Long An International Port.

With regards to the development potential of Long An International Port, Mr. Christopher Phillip Ullett said, “Having worked for many years as a seasoned port and terminal operations expert, I am familiar with many seaports around the globe and I consider Long An International Port to be a large-scale, well-invested and harmoniously integrated seaport service complex which combines the port with an industrial park, industrial service zone, urban area and other components in order to bring added value to the whole region and contribute to the formation of a multi-purpose and modern seaport city. Long An International Port continues to invest in infrastructure, equipment, and human resources towards providing modern logistics seaport services, worthy of the region and international integration.”

Mr. Ullett’s appointment as Chief Operating Officer will jumpstart the organization towards team alignment, continuous improvement, and prioritization of safety policies necessary for the upcoming launch of Long An International Port’s full-service container capability in 2023.
