In the afternoon of 15 July, at Thien Truong Stadium (Nam Dinh), the 13th round of Thien Thanh V.League 2 2017 (the last round of the First Division tournament) took place between the two strongest teams of the season: Viettel FC and Nam Dinh FC in the presence of thousands of spectators. As expected by experts, with relentless efforts, home field advantage and enthusiastic cheer of thousands of spectators, Nam Dinh players confidently entered the match and continuously put pressure on the away team with shots from the 2 baselines. After 90 minutes of play, Nam Dinh beat Viettel 1-0, officially won the only V-League promotion with one game remaining. This result was dedicated by Coach Nguyen Van Sy and Nam Dinh players to their home province fans. After 7 years of absence, Nam Dinh FC would now return to V-League tournament.
