On the 18 July 2015 in celebration of Can Giuoc District’s 11th Party Congress for the 2015-2020 term, delegraes from the Department of Recruiting and Training Cadres of the Organization Department of the Central Committee visited and worked at Long An Port Corporation in Can Giuoc District, Long An Province.

The attendee list included Mr. Mai Xuan Dieu, Director of the Department of Recruiting and Training Cadres of the Organization Department of the Central Committee and deputies and representatives of departments of Can Giuoc District, Long An province. After an introduction about the Long An Port Project, the group visited Port No.1 construction site to witness the scale and enthusiastic ambience of a busy construction site. Presenting at the event, the Director of the Department expressed his enthusiasms in witnessing significant changes in Long An province, especially the Long An Port Project, one of the primary provincial projects. He also praised the project for its ambitious and strategic aspects thanks to the long-term vision and the Be-a-doer-not-just-a-dreamer mentality of the province’s leaders and project developer.

Long An Port is a 4,540.2 billion dong project developed by Long An Port Corporation in Tan Lap Village, Can Giuoc District, Long An Province. Port No.1 accomodates the first phase of the project with a loading capacity up to 30.0 DWT. Since the beginning of 2015, Long An Port Corporation has been progressing to complete phase 1 (permitting 10,000DWT ships) and move on to phase 2 (permitting 30,000DWT ships), with a target to complete phase 1 in Q4/2015. By July 2015, 90% of allocated piles were used to complete the project, ramp bridge No.1, 50% of ramp bridge No.2 and 20% of the main bridge’s construction workload were completed. The current construction progress is hastened to complete supporting features to facilitate construction and operations of the port including medium voltage lines, a 320 Kva substation, a concrete mixing station with a capacity of 75m3/h, a lighting system, internal routes and a materials collection station.

Stemming from the rapid growth in the import and export of key inventory in the agricultural and industrial sectors in Long An province and high demand in logistics, industrial zones inside Long An Port, the commercial center and new urban area project and supporting transportations from seaport Group No.5 are contributing to the social and economic development of Long An province, a primary economic hub of the Southern region and Mekong River Delta. In addition, the advantages of Long An’s geographical location, water levels, vessel movement and marine and road traffic routes in Can Giuoc – Long An illustrate the necessity of Long An Port development. It allows full realizations of the province’s potential as a cargo transportation hub on Soai Rap River that directly reduces the amount of inventory at congested port and annual transportation costs of carrying imports and exports at other ports in Ho Chi Minh City by road or domestic vessels. In addition, after completion and under full operation, the port will help increase inventory transportation capacity, speeding up the development of other ports in the Mekong River Delta and Southern Region.
