In the afternoon of 15 February, the Ocean Drover V158, bearing Marshall Islands nationality, bound for Vietnam from Australia, arrived at Long An International Port at Tan Hoa Hamlet, Tan Tap Commune, Can Giuoc District.

The Ocean Drover is one of the world’s largest livestock carriers with 176.7m in length, 13,462 DWT tonnage. The handling time of the ship cargo was estimated at 48 hours. However, with professional staff and modern equipment, Long An International Port managed to cut down the time and completed the handling work 11 hours ahead of schedule, helping the ship to leave the port earlier than planned.

Long An International Port was built at Tan Tap Commune, Can Giuoc District on the area of 147 ha, consisting of 7 wharves capable of receiving vessels of 30,000 – 70,000 DWT and 05 inland quays with receiving capacity of 2,000 DWT, mainly serving for transportation, storage of agricultural and aquatic products

Currently, Long An International Port has basically completed Phase 1 and can receive vessels of 30,000DWT. Expectedly, Wharf No. 2 will be completed by end of 2017 with capacity of 4.8 million tons of general cargo/year and 700,000TEU/year and will be operated at the full capacity of 15 million tons of general cargo/year and 3.5 million TEU/year by 2023.

Reportedly, this is the 2nd ship arrival in 2017 at Long An Internal Port, which expects to host more than 20 ships this year./.
