The OCEAN SWAGMAN V.92, Singaporean nationality (IMO: 9360776) cargo carrier bound for Vietnam from Australia officially arrived at Long An International Port on 17 January 2016. This was the first ship to arrive in Long An International Port in 2017.

Attendees of the event included Mr. Pham Van Ranh – Secretary of Long An Province Party Committee, Mr. Vo Quoc Thang, Chairman of Dong Tam Group and a number of leaders of relevant Departments, leaders of Tan Tap Commune, Can Giuoc District, Long An Province.

The OCEAN SWAGMAN is 136.5m long, with 7,920 DWT in tonnage and registered capacity of 12,892 GRT. The handling time of the ship cargo was estimated at 48 hours. However, with professional staff and modern equipment, Long An International Port managed to shorten the cargo handling time and release the ship 8 hours ahead of schedule.

Mr. Joseph Wann, CEO of Long An International Port expressed his optimism about the 2017 plan of Long An International Port: “We feel honored to welcome the Ocean Swagman at our port, which confirms the business plan in Phase 1 of Long An International Port to be on track. This first ship arrival will be the prerequisite for the port development in 2017, and the cargo volume and ship arrivals are expected to strongly increase because we have managed to persuade many customers to choose Long An International Port as their import and export point. The 2017 plan of Long An International Port is to best serve all arriving cargo carriers and carry out construction of Wharf No. 2.”

OCEAN SWAGMAN ship was scheduled to depart from Long An International Port in the morning of 19 January 2017, and the cargo owner planned to handle the cargo at this port with at least two journeys per month depending on the market demand.

Long An International Port will welcome the official ship arrival in April 2017 to celebrate the 42nd anniversary of South Vietnam Liberation and nation reunification.

Long An International Port was built on the bank of Soai Rap River, Tan Tap Commune, Can Giuoc District, Long An Province, with construction investment planned into 7 phases and a total investment capital of more than VND 9 trillion, and scheduled for completion and operation at full capacity by 2023.

Currently, Long An International Port has basically completed Phase 1, capable of receiving vessels up to 30,000 DWT, and put into operation at the end of 2016. Wharf No. 2 is scheduled for completion by the end of 2017, increasing the capacity to receive vessels up to 50,000 DWT. Estimated capacity of Long An International Port in Phase 1 is 4.8 million tons of general cargo/year and 700,000 TEU/year and will operate at full capacity with 15 million tons of general cargo/year and 3.5 million TEU/year by 2023.

With the principle of providing a package solution for import into Vietnam and export to the world, the Port is a link of the logistics chain system including services of delivery, warehousing, multimodal transport, international freight agent, customs clearance, etc. Accordingly, Long An International Port not only offers simple port services but also provides package logistics services with added value to customers.
