On 12/12/2015, under directions of Long An Province leaders, Long An Province Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, with agreement and support of sponsors, enterprises, especially key members of Young Entrepreneurs Association, Long An Province Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized the launching ceremony of Long An Football Development JSC at Long An Province Cultural Center (No. 9 Truong Dinh Street, Ward 2, Tan An City, Long An Province).
Long An Football Development JSC was officially established and has been in operation from 03/12/2015 with the initial charter capital of VND 30 billion. Currently, the Company has 10 founding members, who are key members of Young Entrepreneurs Association of Long An Province, representing the sponsors, enterprises strongly committed to Long An football in particular and Vietnam football in general, sharing the common goal of building a sustainable and professional football team under the local brand name.
At the ceremony, Mr. Do Huu Hao – Chairman of Long An Football Development JSC, said: “Leaders of the Company and the Football Club, as well as all coaches and football players of Long An football team wish to keep receiving guidance and support from leaders of the Province, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Long An Province Football Federation and Vietnam Professional Football JSC (VPF) – the organizer and operator of professional football leagues in Vietnam. Especially, during this initial stage of organization and operation, the Company would welcome any support and constructive suggestions from reporters and editors of central and local mass media as well as football fans to help us with motivation and strength in jointly promoting Long An football to a new height”.
The establishment of Long An Football Development JSC was contemplated for years by leaders of Long An Province and Long An Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism until it is now officially launched. The football team will operate and develop in accordance with the football model of developed countries in the world, typically Japan. For Long An football to grow in line with the modern trend, it is very necessary to involve the participation of all entrepreneurs, businesses and fans in the Province in particular and the country in general, as well as Long An football fans at home and abroad. With an initial capital of VND 30 billion, once in stable operation, the Company will launch IPO to raise capital, enabling Long An football fans to become shareholders – true owners of the football team. That means a football team with many owners, hundreds of sponsors for more sustainable development purpose.
The image of Dong Tam Sponsor has been associated with Long An football team during the last 15 years. The association of the main sponsor name with the club’s name inadvertently makes fans think of the true owner of the professional football team as the enterprise, rather than a partnership model between the enterprise and Long An Province People’s Committee. For the general development of Long An football and to keep in line with the development trend of Vietnam’s professional football, Dong Tam Joint Stock Corporation has decided to cede its management of the football team to Long An Province.
Introduction to Dong Tam Long An Football Team
The predecessor of Dong Tam Long An football team was Long An football team, founded in 1976 as an amateur football team representing Long An Province and managed by Long An Province Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Since its establishment to 2000, the team often competed back and forth between the First Division and Second Division (later renamed as Super and A1 tournaments), and could not join the top ranks of the National Football.
Also in 1996, the Management board of Dong Tam Long An Tile plant, out of its great care of the spiritual life of employees, established Dong Tam Tile football team to promote the Company’s sports movement.
In 2000 when sports were gradually socialized, with the agreement of Long An Province People’s Committee and Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the football team was switched to the professional model and transferred to Dong Tam Joint Stock Corporation for management (and from 2002, managed by Dong Tam Sport Co., Ltd.). After merged to the Company’s football team, the merger played under the new name of Dong Tam Long An Tiles Football Club.
After taking over the team, the management board of Dong Tam Joint Stock Corporation sent staff abroad to visit and learn professional football training models in countries with developed football such as Argentina, Portugal, Italy … to select, apply and successfully build the first model of professional football club in Vietnam.
Under the sponsorship of Dong Tam Joint Stock Corporation, the Club strongly invested in new personnel as well as essential facilities to strengthen and promote the football teams to a great progress, becoming a first model for other football teams in Vietnam.
In particular, the football team built with the philosophy of “Honest Football”, the stability, resolve and consensus of all members, full devotion on pitch have helped the Club maintain a beautiful image in the heart of fans.
