The 9th of September 2017 marks a new landmark in the field of domestic poultry raising and production when Vietnamese chicken meat was exported to Japanese market for the first time. This shipment belonged to Koyu & Unitek Co., Ltd., a pioneer in Vietnam to invest in the closed production chain from animal feed production to processed chicken meat for export. The  shipment exported from Long An International Port in the presence of officials of the Government, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, representatives of Japanese Embassy, Dutch Embassy, Dutch Consulate General, leaders of Ho Chi Minh City, Long An, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, representatives exporters, etc. will be an important turning point when clean chicken meat of Vietnam has managed to convince a demanding market such as Japan, laying a new potential direction highly evaluated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Also on this occasion, the signing ceremony marking the strategic cooperation between partners in the supply chain of clean chicken meat and Long An International Port took place to improve the competitiveness of domestic chicken. Representatives of the clean chicken chain included: Bel Chicken, De Heus, Hung Nhon (Chicken farm representative) and Koyu & Unitek. These companies worked together to create a close supply chain with quality under strict control in accordance with the Global G.A.P standard from breeding stock selection to raising, feed supply and slaughtering. With this chain, finished chicken meat will meet the strictest requirements from difficult markets such as Japan and other potential markets. Meanwhile, Long An International Port covering 147ha is one of the largest seaports in the South. Long An International Port provides both port services and package logistics services such as domestic transportation, international transportation, warehousing, customs agent services. The signing ceremony will create an intensive chain between stake holders: feed suppliers, chicken farms, chicken meat processing, exporting and importing enterprises and the Port. This chain will reduce costs and risks when the parties support each other, thereby increasing the competitiveness of Vietnamese chicken meat in the world market.

Along with the above two events, Long An International Port also officially held the ground-breaking ceremony for Wharf No. 2. The 210-meter long Wharf No.2 of Long An is built on an urgent schedule and will be completed within 10 months from the date of commencement. Expectedly by the end of 3rd Quarter of 2018, the Wharf will be able to receive vessels over 50,000 DWT. As such, the total length of Wharf No. 1 and Wharf No. 2 will be 420m, in line with the master plan of 7 wharves with total length of 2,600m, able to receive vessels from 30,000 DWT – 50,000 DWT and 5 inland quays for 2,000 DWT vessels.

Included in the master plan of 1,935 hectares, Long An International Port covers 147 ha, the port industrial zone accounts for 1048 ha and 239 ha is for logistic services. In particular, total area of warehouses at the Port alone is 400,000m2, catering for the demand of transportation and storage of agricultural and aquatic products, fertilizers and livestock. Long An International Port is planned for 7 phases of construction investment with a total investment capital of more than VND 9 trillion (Approx. US$ 400 million), considered as one of largest seaports in Mekong Delta upon completion in 2023.

From mid-2016 until now, while partially operational and still under construction, improvement of warehousing services, Long An International Port has repeatedly hosted large international vessels, indicating customer confidence and trend for long-term cooperation with Long An International Port.

Conveniently located at the beginning of Soai Rap channel, Tan Tap Commune, Can Giuoc District and only 40km away from Outer Buoy No. 0, vessels berthed at Long An International Port will be able to save much pilotage and fuel costs. Tapping on that advantage, Long An International Port focuses on agricultural and aquatic products in Mekong Delta, serving customers in need of transportation and storage of agricultural and aquatic products, fertilizers and livestock at the Port. At present, the ports in Ho Chi Minh City center have almost no space for these kinds of goods. In addition, Long An International Port contributes to reduction of traffic congestion through downtown Ho Chi Minh City.
