On 8 October, People’s Committee of Can Giuoc District, Long An Province held the Opening Ceremony of the 8th Sports Festival of Can Giuoc District in 2017 at the District Center for Culture and Sports. This was the biggest sport event of the District in 2017, intended to urge the participation of people, promote sport exercise, improve solidarity and friendship, with the vision to Sports Festival 2018 of Long An Province. 

Attendees of the Festival and the parade included Mr. Nguyen Anh Dung – Director of Long An Province Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, leaders of District Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, divisions, agencies of the District and more than 900 athletes from 28 teams from agencies, departments, unions, schools, sports associations, communes and towns.

This Sports Festival attracted more than 1,100 athletes participating in 13 competitions, including: football, volleyball, chess, Chinese chess, shuttle cock kicking, swimming, tug-of-war, taekwondo, health physical exercise, rod pushing, etc.

With the tradition of sharing responsibility with the community and society, during the journey of nearly 50 years, Dong Tam has organized many charity programs across the country to share affection with and provide support to poor families. Especially, in Long An – the place of Dong Tam brand origin and development, apart from programs such as donating Tet gifts to the underprivilleged, awarding scholarships and Mid-Autumn gifts to poor students with good academic results and many other meaningful programs, etc. Dong Tam Group is always willing to sponsor and support local authorities in all community activities and at this Sports Festival, Dong Tam sponsored 1,000 T-shirts and 1,000 hats for athletes.

The 8th Sports Festival of Can Giuoc District was a great opportunity for athletes to learn and improve their professional skills and competition experience, and served as a healthy playground to keep responding to the campaign ” People take part in physical exercise following the great example of Uncle Ho “, contributing to promotion of physical training and sports movement in schools, agencies, departments, organizations and communities in the District, motivating people to regularly practice physical training and sports to improve their health for labor, study, work, construction and protection of the Country in the present period.
